I have always liked Nicolas Cage. The Rock, Con Air, City of Angels, and more. He has that range, and when he goes big, he goes all the way big.
Before all the big MCU and DCU films took over, there was Blade, played by Wesley Snipes, and Ghost Rider, played by Nicolas Cage. Rougher characters. Darker edges. None of the polish superheroes get today.
Cage playing Johnny Blaze brought that crazy, wild, high-energy acting style straight to the character. The film had mixed reviews, and it did not score well on Rotten Tomatoes or IMDb. But I liked it. There is nothing safe or clean about a man who rides a motorcycle straight out of hell with a flaming skull for a head, and Cage played every bit of that madness.
So when talk started of a Cage Ghost Rider figure, complete with the bike, I signed up for the pre-order straight away.
Dealing Straight With the Source
It is like being an addict, but for plastic. Over time I stopped going through the usual channels. I ended up dealing straight with the source. No middleman, no secondhand stuff, everything direct before it even hit the streets.
This one came from TNS Toys, direct from the manufacturer in China. Some collectors would say they are not Hot Toys, not branded enough. But if you are collecting for the detail of the figure, the brand on the box should not matter. It is the sculpt, the paint, the engineering that counts.
I paid the money and waited. Seven months in production before it finally arrived.
The Detail That Hooked Me
And the detail was gorgeous. The bike alone tells you everything. Every part moves, and the flames actually light up. Not a gimmick tacked on for the box art. That is the kind of detail you only get when you go straight to the source. Tasting the purest form of the good stuff. You get more hooked every time.
Blade came from the same source, standing in my collection right alongside him now. Two reminders of where all this really started, long before capes became big business.
